ECYM investigates how environmental and social factors influence mental health during youth. A key focus is the identification of risk and resilience factors within an individual’s environment—referred to as the “exposome.”
We analyse:
-
environmental factors, such as air pollution, noise, and urban living conditions using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
-
everyday environments in real time through Geographic Ecological Momentary Assessment (GEMA)
-
individual factors, such as migration background, adverse childhood experiences, stress, emotional well-being, and cognitive functioning
From these data, we generate individual exposome profiles and link them with multi-modal imaging data to better understand how environmental factors contribute to the development of mental disorders.
