Isabel Dziobek is Head of the Clinical Psychology of Social Interaction research group at Humboldt Universität Berlin. The research focus of her group and the Specialized Outpatient Clinic for Social Interaction lies on the bio-psycho-social mechanisms underlying social interaction, as well as on disorders of social interaction.

She investigates the cognitive and emotional processes that constitute social interaction and communication, including their assessment and promotion. The phenomena studied by her team include, among others, understanding others’ mental states (Theory of Mind), empathy, decision-making in social contexts, social judgments, emotion and facial recognition, as well as socio-emotional competencies in individuals with and without impairments in social interaction, such as autism, social anxiety disorder, or chronic depression.
