Stefan Gold is professor of Clinical Neuroscience and Immunology at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. Previously, he trained and worked at University of Hamburg in Germany, as well as New York University (NYU), and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States. The group’s research program is designed to combine the investigation of (psycho)biological mechanisms in mental health conditions with clinical trials, flanked by biomarker studies. Stefan has more than 20 years’ experience in conducting investigator-initiated clinical trials in Europe and the US, evaluating both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. A particular focus area in recent years has been trial design innovations, including platform trials. Stefan is the scientific director of the pan-European integrated platform trial for depression (EU-PEARLDIVER https://www.eu-pearldiver.eu ) and leads the national clinical trials infrastructure in the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG).
