Young people with increased risk for serious mental disorders need early, low-threshold, and effective support—yet existing services often fail to reach them in time, or at all.

Your donation will enable the development and implementation of an innovative, modular therapy program and a digital screening platform that closes this gap.

Why this project is urgently needed

Mental illnesses frequently begin in adolescence. Without early intervention, they can become chronic, jeopardize graduation, and lead to lifelong impairments. At the same time, many affected young people are “hard to reach”: they do not seek help, do not know where to find support, or hesitate to take the first step into a therapist’s office.

This project combines two core innovations:

Ein modulares transdiagnostisches Therapieprogramm, A modular transdiagnostic therapy program that can be flexibly adapted to the individual needs of young people with increased risk for serious mental disorders and that actively supports transferring therapy content into daily life.

A digital screening platform that identifies risk situations early, provides low-threshold initial guidance, and facilitates access to appropriate help.

How your donation will be used

1. Therapy materials and real-life transfer

  • Development of practical, youth-appropriate therapy materials (worksheets, exercises for home)
  • Support for transferring therapy content into patients’ everyday lives
  • Open-access: In long term the materials developed will be made available free of charge and without barriers to therapists, schools, and counseling centers, ensuring your donation has a lasting impact.

2. Online training for therapists

  • Creation and providing of digital training modules for office-based therapists and those interested in high-risk therapy
  • Providing specific knowledge on working with young people with increased risk for serious mental disorders
  • Scaling impact: More professionals can apply the program, reaching more young people.

3. Support for the research team

  • Resources for data collection, analysis, and project coordination
  • Ensuring continuous therapy progress through close monitoring, reminder systems, and flexible appointment options
  • Preventing therapy dropouts, a key factor for long-term treatment success.

4. Outreach campaign

  • Funding for a campaign to reach “hard-to-reach groups”
  • Use of social media, peer-to-peer approaches, and youth-specific communication channels

What your donation achieves

Your donation helps provide therapy to young people quickly and makes the developed materials available free of charge for therapists and counseling centers.

Every contribution, whether small or large, brings us closer to fully implementing this project.

Sustainability and reach

Thanks to the open-access strategy for the therapy materials and the online training for therapists, your donation will have an impact beyond the project’s duration.

The developed content can be adopted, adapted, and shared by other institutions, creating a multiplier effect for the mental health of young people in Germany and beyond.

Help us close this gap. With your donation, you make early support possible, prevent chronic courses of illness, and give young people a real chance to grow up healthy.
