Claudia Calvano is Professor of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Psychotherapy and Director of the University Outpatient Clinic for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults (JUHA) at Freie Universität Berlin. She is also a scientific member of the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) at the Berlin-Potsdam site.
Her clinical and research work focuses on intervention research employing transdiagnostic, digital, and socio-ecologically informed approaches. Many of her projects adopt community-based and participatory research methods. Her key areas of expertise include the consequences of trauma and issues related to child protection, chronic pain, and minority stress from an intersectional perspective—particularly among trans* and non-binary children and adolescents, as well as children and adolescents who have experienced racism. A cross-cutting focus of her work is the role of parents in the context of care and intervention.
