Martin Siegel has been Professor and Chair of General Economics, Health Economics, and Econometrics at the University of Greifswald since July 2025.
Through his research, he aims to identify the causes of health inequalities, develop strategies to prevent avoidable disparities, and contribute to shaping a fair and efficient healthcare system for all. To this end, he uses and refines statistical methods for health economic evaluations and epidemiology, enabling an explicit representation of diversity and heterogeneity in his work.
The research in his field is internationally oriented and addresses both the micro level (e.g., financial protection, determinants of health, prevention and diagnosis of infectious diseases) as well as health policy interventions and their evaluation.
