Today, young people primarily seek information where they spend their time every day: on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. That is exactly where we want to reach them with accessible, evidence-based information about mental health.

“Sometimes it’s hard to know who to trust on the internet. I think videos by real researchers would be great. They could help people better understand mental health conditions.”

– Luise, 16 years old

However, high-quality science communication requires funding – and currently, there is not enough financial support available for this work.

That is why we need your support.

Why This Project Matters

Mental health challenges, anxiety, and crises are increasing among young people. At the same time, social media is flooded with misinformation, half-truths, and oversimplified answers to complex questions.

We want to provide an alternative: scientifically based, easy to understand, and explained clearly and on equal footing.

Through a professional video and awareness campaign, we aim to reach young people aged 12 to 35 and provide them with access to up-to-date knowledge about mental health.

What We Plan to Do

We want to produce a video series for YouTube, as well as content for TikTok and Instagram, in which:

  • Researchers talk about their work and findings,
  • Early-career researchers share insights into their daily work,
  • Experts by experience contribute their perspectives,
  • Innovative prevention and intervention approaches are presented,
  • Young people learn how research is conducted and how they can get involved themselves.

At the heart of the project is interdisciplinary and participatory research on youth mental health.

All content will be designed to be accessible, easy to understand, and tailored to the needs of young audiences.

Our Goal

We want to:

  • Make research findings easily accessible,
  • Strengthen trust in research and science,
  • Inspire young people to engage with research,
  • Highlight opportunities for participation,
  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health conditions,
  • Promote prevention and provide guidance.

In short: we want to bring science to where young people are.

We Need Your Help

Approximately €100,000 is needed for the development, production, and dissemination of the video series.

Support our awareness campaign and give science a voice that reaches young people.
