Christian Otte, M.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry and chair of the Dept. of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Charité University Medical Center Berlin, Campus Benjamin Franklin. He is a principal investigator in the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) and coordinates the DZPG infrastructure “Clinical Trials”.

His main interest lies in the neurobiology and treatment of affective and stress-related disorders. Furthermore, he systematically examines the bidirectional association between psychiatric and medical illness. Finally, in collaboration with many national and international colleagues he is conducting several large-scale randomized controlled trials as principal investigator and is advancing clinical research in mental health, for example by conducting a platform trial in treatment-resistant depression.

He has authored more than 300 publications and has received competitive funding from the German Research Foundation, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, German Network of University Medicine, European Union, Wellcome Trust, Berlin Institute of Health, Einstein Foundation, and the Brain & Behavior Foundation (NARSAD).
